VINEYARDS

UNTI

We have been extremely fortunate to work with the brilliant Unti vineyards.  Not only do they make excellent wines (some of Sonoma’s best we think), but they share our philosophy of balanced grape growing: sustainable practices that yield fine grapes of good acidity that aren’t overripe or too high in sugar.  All their vineyards are biodynamic and take full advantage of the climate and gravelly loam soils of Dry Creek Valley.  They grow what grows best in Dry Creek: our primitivo zinfandel comes from their valley floor estate while our sangiovese comes from their benchland property.

HANDLEY RANCH

The Handley Ranch Vineyard was established by the father of Milla Handley, famous for her Anderson Valley wines.  The sustainably certified vineyard is in a surprisingly cool part of Dry Creek Valley that is rich in sandy, alluvial soils and yields grapes of fresh acidity and sharp balance.  Sauvignon musque vines are scattered with the blanc vines, and they add their own complexity to the finished wine.

GUNDLACH BUNDSCHU

One of the oldest and most legendary vineyards of Sonoma, this land has been owned and farmed by the same family since 1861.  Gundlach Bundschu is dedicated to organic agriculture and grows excellent Bordeaux and Burgundy varietals on their wonderful vineyard in Sonoma Valley.  Their rich history is matched only by the quality of their grapes, and we are proud to be working with them.  This vineyard supplies the cabernet and merlot grapes used in our Sonoma Tuscan Blend “Lo Scuro.”
